Just before the summer holidays, I travelled to Portugal. About 45 minutes south of Porto is where every pair of Signed By You shoes is crafted with great care and craftsmanship.
It's always special to be there, catch up with the people in the factory, and see the next collection come to life. This visit was all about our winter collection.
We discussed all the details, refined the fits, and—perhaps my favourite part—selected the materials.
As many of you know, I work as much as possible with leftover leather. These are beautiful leathers that remain after the production runs of major fashion houses. Instead of letting them go to waste, we give them a second life at Signed By You. Every time I walk through the warehouse, I'm amazed all over again. The amount of leather left behind is enormous, and the quality is often exceptional. It's confronting. I completely understand why the industry is searching for alternatives to leather—we are exploring different materials ourselves. But when you see how much beautiful leather already exists and would otherwise remain unused, you realise just how much value is already there. It's a reminder. For our industry, but perhaps also for ourselves as consumers.
This time, I was able to handpick another beautiful selection of leftover leathers. We've brought back some truly special materials, and they will become our new winter boots—each pair with its own unique character.
And there's another piece of news that many of you will be happy to hear: by popular request, we're introducing boots with a lower heel this season. We're working hard on the development of a Pixie boot. Behind the scenes we're refining every detail—from the fit to the finishing touches—so that it feels exactly as you would expect from Signed By You.
